ABOUT THE AUTHOR
Why Did I Become an Author?
I co-authored a mystery novel in high school in 1968 and 1969, The Carnaby Street Affair, and began writing poetry in the early 1970's while in college.  I attended FSU in Tallahassee, FL where I majored in Recreation and minored in Family Life earning a BS degree.  Though some memoir type writing took place at that time, it was more in the form of a diary.  After returning to Miami in 1974, I lost interest in writing taking secretarial and word processing positions to support myself.

As a child I poured over mystery stories by the hour loving the challenge of finding the clues to  deduce who had committed the murders.  I read every one of the Nancy Drew Mystery series books.  Even now I will watch a mystery movie  twice to see what clues were dropped along the way that I may have missed.

A native born Miamian (How rare is that?), I have lived here my entire life except for my two years in Tallahassee and one year in Sarasota where I worked as a Community School Coordinator after my graduation making use of my recreational degree.  The poor economy sent me back home to Miami.  Though I loathed taking typing in high school, it helped me survive as a receptionist, secretary and word processor, which lead to using a computer.  Just ask my kids what a typewriter is and they will give you blank stares like "What  planet did you grow up on?"

My drive to write resurfaced in 2002 when I began to write the novel,
Miracle Rescue, Miracle Love.  That story was followed by a second romance novel in 2006, The City Mom Goes to the Country.   Then I began experimenting with children's stories, poetry and my latest interest is inspirational.

What Else Do I Enjoy Doing?
Besides creative writing, I enjoy gardening and have been composting for 15 years which has reduced our garbage output by 2/3  plus produces organic dirt which I reapply to my gardens twice a year.   Another passion of mine is singing soprano in a small church choir which has renewed and strengthened my spiritual life.  Once a week I volunteer in a hospital where people are happy to see me and grateful for my services.  I find all of these activities satisfying and rewarding.

My Family:
I am married to an engineer, which is a good thing since I'm great at breaking things and he is an expert at fixing them.  We have two offspring in college.  The oldest is my son followed three years  and two days later by my daughter.  Thanks goodness they don't have the same birthdays. In my immediate family of four, I am the only creative one. The others have the logical and analytical minds.   When my daughter graduates she will be doing research to cure some deadly disease, my son will be helping people become mentally healthy and my husband will keep the TV station on the air.  Meanwhile, I will be writing, singing and volunteering.  We all have our uniqueness and I love and respect my family very much.

Please enjoy reading samples of my manuscripts and photos.  Happy reading and writing to you.  Warmly, Lynn
